New Delhi : eWebUniversity, a US-based e-learning and knowledge management technology company, launched its India operations on Thursday. The company also unveiled eWebSmartLink, an ASP-based solution.The company is also setting up a global customer support centre in Mumbai with an initial investment of Rs 5 crore. Addressing the press conference, Mr Yogesh Vaidya, chairman, eWebUniversity, said: "Web-based information exchange platforms are rapidly replacing conventional communication methods for organisations all over the world. With our integrated approach to e-learning that combines content, technology and experts, eWebUniversity will be able to deliver e-learning solutions that meet the concrete needs of corporates and contribute to the bottomline."
eWebsmartLink is a fully scalable information exchange platform. This means that it has no upper limit of bandwidth and grows with the needs of the organisation. It facilitates Web conferencing, online induction programmes, corporate training among others.
The company plans to introduce the solution in Europe, Australia and in the other countries of Asia in the next few months, Mr Vaidya said. Though the product can cater to educational institutions, corporates and individuals, the company is targeting close to 150 corporates in the first year for the product in India.
According to Mr Anil B Chopra, president, international operations, eWebUniversity, "The product revolves around e-learning and such instruments have a great future in corporate environment.
It is not only a training instrument but will define how corporates do business. The product could result in a cost reduction of 50 to 80 per cent, claims Mr Chopra.
eWebUniversity was launched in the US in 1999. The company's clients include University of California, San Jose State University and Hewlett Packard.
