Hyderabad : NetPlane Systems, the global supplier of portable networking protocol software and systems, has launched industry's first IP routing software suite called `OPTIRoute', designed specifically for carrier-class networking equipment. NetPlane Network Technologies (India) Pvt Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NetPlane Systems in Hyderabad, part of the $2.2 billion Conextant Systems, has been instrumental in developing and designing OptiRoute. The product has been completed in a record six months' time of Indian operations, a press release said here.It was reported in this section of the column in December, 2000 that OptiRoute is the first of its kind in carrier-class and MPLS-enabled IP routing systems to support the next generation IP service platforms and intelligent optical equipment. The main breakthrough feature of OptiRoute is its carrier-class FIB architecture that supplants the traditional monolithic implementations. This allows the developers to effortlessly distribute IP routing functionality to achieve scalability. Additionally, OptiRoute supports MPLS traffic engineering through ability to provide constrained route look-ups for MPLS signalling protocols during LSP establishment, claims the company.
OptiRoute is based around an extensible, modular framework. It contains a suite of routing protocols, which can be compiled, enabled and configured as separate components. The modular nature enables future enhancements, emerging standards and new protocols to be included without compromising the integrity of an existing OptiRoute implementation.
Based on applicable Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards, the first release of OptiRoute in Hyderabad on Tuesday provides Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and will be followed by release of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP4), intermediate system to intermediate system (ISIS) protocol and RIPv2 later this year.
