Chennai : Promoter of career portal Naukri.com, Info Edge (India) Pvt. Ltd (an ICICI venture funded company) has initiated moves to acquire Quadrangle, a human resource recruitment firm in an all-stock deal.Quadrangle is promoted by Mr Jayadev Pathasarathy, who has fifteen years experience in the human resources industry. Mr Parthasarathy will be joining the board of Info Edge, according to industry sources.This move is expected to strengthen the human resources expertise of Info Edge, which launched the country's first career portal. Quadrangle will continue to function with its separate identity and will not enjoy any special relationship with Naukri, sources added.
ICICI Ventures had earlier picked up a ten per cent stake in Info Edge (India) Pvt. Ltd for about $2 million.
Quadrangle has a team of five professionals headed by Mr Parthasarathy. It specialises in recruitment for middle and senior management professionals. It has billed Rs 60 lakh for the first seven months of this fiscal and hopes to end the year with a turnover of Rs 90 lakh. The profit margins in this business are extremely high as costs are minimal.
Meanwhile, Naukri.com has put in place new features such as `job alert' and a `job gallery' on its site, said Mr Sanjeev Bikhchandani, chief executive officer, Naukri.com.
Naukri.com promoter to acquire HR consultancy The career portal is planning to strengthen its offline presence. It has launched a unique concept branded Talent Mall. The Talent Mall is spread over 2000 sq. ft. and has an auditorium for presentation interviews, multimedia equipment etc. This forms an ideal platform for employers and prospective employees to meet. Naukri can provide services such as screening of candidates, resume shortlisting etc, Mr Bikhchandani added. Physical presence in cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune is also planned. Currently, Naukri has offices in Delhi, Bombay and Bangalore. Overseas branches in Singapore, Dubai and the US are planned in a year.
Naukri has registered about nine million page views in January. It has a client base of 4000 corporates and has over 50,000 live jobs. It targets a revenue of Rs 1.5 crore for the fiscal ending March 2001 and Rs 6 crore by March 2002.
