Markfed to commission sugarcane plant

Chandigarh, Jan 31: The Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (Markfed), Asia's largest cooperative, is all set to commission its latest sugarcane milling plant located at Malout in Muktsar district shortly.Markfed managing director DS Bains, said that the trial run of the plant commenced on Tuesday. The sugarcane is being obtained from villages situated within 30 km radius of the plant. The new plant has a crushing capacity of 1,750 tonne of sugarcane per day.
