SAP Labs to pump in $25 m to expand B'lore operations

Hyderabad : Sap Labs India, the Indian arm of the application software provider SAP AG, has proposed to invest close to $25 million for expanding its office operations in Bangalore. Speaking to the eFE, Dr Udo Urbanek, co-director and head of R&D SAP Labs India, said there was also a plan to increase the number of employees to 580 people by the end of next year. "SAP India is planning to focus mainly on two core areas - customer relationship management (CRM) and marketplace, which will act as a infrastructure platform with certain functionalities where different companies will come together for business and become a `supply hub'," he said. Citing an example, "in an auction room, the market place solution will showcase the exact configuration of a product and make online auctioning with minimum time thereby facilitating and connecting all the suppliers," he said.Out of the total proposed investment of $25 million, about 30-40 per cent would be used towrds development of e-CRM projects and lots in localisation of software for mySAP.com, he said. Expressing the success of mySAP.com, which ties together all SAP products, including R/3 and SAP industry solutions, comprises four key elements viz marketplace, workplace, business scenarious, application hosting. mySAP.com offers a powerful solution that extends to the Net by empowering employees and thereby cutting costs, he said.
