Siemens Information in pact with webMethods

Priya Srinivasan
Mumbai : Siemens Information Systems Limited (SISL) has signed a partnership agreement with the US based webMethods, a company which creates products for Enterprise Application Integration, systems integration for B2B transactions and mainframe integration. SISL has been appointed reseller for webMethods products in India. The webMethods products which will use SISL as the systems integrator are - webMethods Enterprise (for Enterprise Application Integration), webMethods B2B (for B2B solutions) and the webMethods Mainframe Integration Server.

The company is targeting both the SME segment as well as large corporates with its product offerings. "We will begin with our existing customer base and then extend our marketing to other customers as well" says Mr A S Viswanathan, director, SISL. Dwelling on the market potential in India, Mr Manish Sharma, distribution channel director, Asia-Pacific for webMethods says: "We believe there is a change in the Indian companies outlook towards Web-enablement. While we understand that the transaction costs in India are not as high as they are overseas and therefore the benefits with regard to cost cutting through Web-enablement are not very high in India, where Indian companies will really benefit is in the efficiency in terms of the ability to reach customers that the Web can bring to their business"SISL will serve as a reseller and plans to set up a customer support centre.

Commenting on the sectors which are likely to exhibit the maximum demand for the webMethods products, Mr Viswanathan says: "Any sector which is under competitive pressure will have customers for these products. These could be sectors like manufacturing, telecom, pharma and chemicals to begin with."
