Centre clears coffee retention plan
The Centre has decided to accept "in principle" the coffee retention plan to cut exports by 20 per cent to stabilise the falling international prices of the commodity. "We have in principle decided to implement the coffee retention plan. However, the modalities of implementation have been left to the Bangalore-based Coffee Board," a top commerce ministry official said. The Coffee Board has submitted a proposal, but the commerce ministry has asked the Board to come out with certain modifications which was awaited, he said. Though other countries like Vietman and Brazil exportmore than India, it does not seem to have any effect on prices.
