Jaipur : Rajasthan is all set to get a state-of-the-art institute of information technology, thanks to Mr Mukesh Chattar, a US-based NRI. The state government, on its part, may provide a 100-acre plot free of cost for the proposed project. Mr Chattar has made a fortune by selling his software company at around $900 million in the US.Sources in the Rajasthan's Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP) told The Financial Express that the proposed institute may be the first of its kind in the country as it would impart latest training and information to the students.
Mr Chattar hails from Kotah in Rajasthan and has established himself well in the US IT sector. At his recent meeting with the state chief minister, Mr Ashok Gehlot, he floated the idea of an information technology institute. Mr Gehlot assured him that the government would give him a 100-acre plot for the project.
Mr Purshottam Agarwal, who heads BIP, said that IIIT would become operational in the next two years.
