Mumbai: In a strategic move, Titan Industries Ltd is expanding its product portfolio to foray into the wall clocks segment. On January 22, 2001 the watch major will be launching a new range of wall clocks in select cities like Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore.When contacted, the company confirmed the new initiative but was reluctant to divulge details on its new range of wall clocks. According to industry sources, the new range of wall clocks are artistically designed by well-known artists in an effort to add aesthetic appeal and allure. "The collection includes 200 models in different shapes and colours," add sources. The price ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 3,500. The move is seen as part of the company's plans to reach out to a wider target audience.
Titan Industries, a year ago, launched a new children's watch brand called Dash!, priced in the range of Rs 250-395. It also has a range of watches under the brand Fast-Track targeted at the youth.
Other brands in Titan watches includes the Sonata range of watches. Titan commands a market leadership with a share of 58 per cent in the 10 million unit volume Indian watch market.
Titan is part of the Tata Group, and manufactures jewellery under the brand Tanishq and clocks apart from watches. Titan's products are sold in over 1,400 cities in India through 5,500 retail outlets across the country. Of these, 108 are exclusive Titan stores, and 97 are Time Zone outlets.
Titan also has a presence in international markets like London, Dubai and Singapore through sales offices in these countries. It has also penetrated markets like Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
