Kolkata: The Bengal Intelligent Park at Salt Lake Electronic Complex in Kolkata has attracted a lot of attention from the information technology companies. The park - promoted by the US-based Chatterjee group - will have four low-rise hi-tech buildings with a total floor space of 215,000sqft, to start with. "The entire 50,000sqft floor space of the first building has already been delivered," said a senior company official.
The three other buildings will have 55,000sqft floor-space each and part of all these buildings has been booked even though the second one will be ready in October 2001, the third in February 2002 and the fourth in April.
The park, with five to six hi-tech international quality blocks on a 5-acre plot, will "build to specification" and provide "customised layouts" with the help of design-friendly team advising and interacting with the ultimate users. It will be ideal for those users looking for a quick delivery space as well as for those looking for dedicated buildings.
Dedicated amenities catering to the need of today's IT and software professionals can also be provided, he said. The design provides flexibility for changes in future.
The park has made available a variety of flexible finance packages to suit the individual customer needs. The users and software companies need to interact with the design/finance team members to agree on a delivery schedule of the right type of space along with the right mix of amenities.
The buildings will have efficient floor plates which would provide much lower effective area per person deployed - a significant factor in this futuristic design for knowledge-based economy.
The park - designed and supervised by group's team consisting of UrbaCon London and TCG Developments of New Delhi - will provide quality-controlled workmanship and materials, unmatched in Eastern India, the official said.
Says CATS' chief executive officer, Mr Rajeev Goswami: "I am sure the ambience provided in Bengal Intelligent Park will lead to higher productivity of employees and make it to be one of the best place to work for." CATS has already taken space in the park.
"We need a paradigm shift in work culture so that we can work with the best international companies like United Airlines and Lufthansa. The new BIP facility with all its modern amenities including a gymnasium and a creche has created just the right environment for SkyTech employees ," said SkyTech's CEO, Mr DK Chowdhury.
