Kolkata: Charagh Din, one of the oldest indigenous apparel brands in the country, will start its e-commerce initiatives through the launch of the Website www.charaghdin.com. "Though a number of online shopping sites offer Charagh Din shirts, none of these sites have the range and variety of the store's online avatar," a company spokesperson said.The company's Only at Wodehouse Road outlet in Mumbai will give the brand loyalists a chance to buy the latest range from anywhere in the world.
Said Mr Raju Daswani, managing director of the company,"with www.Charaghdin.com customers can now place orders from any other part of the world. They do not have to walk into our store."
According to the company, the online virtual store will feature a vast range of shirts in a variety of colours, all available in sizes ranging from 37-48.
Recently, Charagh Din launched the Ditto range of unisex shirts to target the female segment as the company found that 40 per cent of its shoppers were women buying shirts as gifts. Priced Rs 330 and upwards, the Ditto range uses fabrics including cotton and cotton blends, knits, lycra, tencel and wool.
As part of its efforts to secure a firm B2C presence, Charagh Din will provide a host of payment options to its online customers. Online transactions will take place through cash on delivery, credit cards and demand drafts. The company is also tying up with a courier company to deliver the goods.
The company said Charagh Din is on the verge of choosing its Internet gateway which will provide security for online transactions for shoppers. It is evaluating the Internet gateway offerings of both HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank and their charges before taking any decision.
