Infosys signs MoU with Andhra govt for software campus
It major Infosys Technologies Limited on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding with Andhra Pradesh government to establish a software development campus in Hyderabad. Under the first phase of the project to come up at Manikonda, Infosys would invest Rs 80 crore in facilities to seat about 1,200 software professionals within two years. A further Rs 100 crore would be invested to house an additional 1,300 software professionals in the second and third phases of the project, within the next three years. The state government, on its part, will provide 30 acres of land while Infosys would retain the option to purchase another 20 acres of land contiguous to the plot for its future expansion, the MoU said.HC stays WIPO ruling on marutionline.com
The Delhi High Court has issued notice to Maruti Udyog Limited on a petition seeking quashing of November 16 last year's order of the Switzerland-based World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on a dispute relating to Internet domain name - marutionline.com. Justice Vijender Jain also granted interim stay to Maruti Software Pvt Ltd, an alleged cybersquatter, who appealed before the high court against him being evicted from the Maruti Suzuki Website by the Geneva-based online court.
Texas Instruments to set up wireless centre in Bangalore
Texas Instruments (India) on Thursday announced setting up of a third generation wireless centre in Bangalore, a key step in its new focus of developing integrated hardware and software solutions that power the varied and versatile end equipment of the communications and Internet age. Company managing director Biswadip Mitra said the centre would build both DSP software (infrastructure and applications) and hardware solutions for the exploding wireless market.
Cyberspace takes over US software services co
Cyberspace, a Mumbai-based infotech firm, has acquired a US-based software services company promoted by an Indian technocrat Mahesh Uberoi for a total consideration of $6.23 million. The company, UII, with specialisation in e-business, client relationship and ERP, has a revenue earning of $10 million. The acquisition is aimed at bringing in synergy in operation between the two companies and enhance its presence in US and UK markets.
Sagar TV to air Gurbani kirtan on Tara Punjabi
Rathikant Basu-promoted Tara Punjabi Channel has given the 14-hour slot for telecast of Gurbani kirtan to Sagar TV in a bid to woo audiences and save costs. The channel, however, will be deprived of the coveted Gurbani kirtan from the Golden Temple of Amritsar, the rights of which are with ETC Punjabi.
Shyam Telecom planning to enter southern circles
Given the favourable environment for operating basic services, telecom manufacturer and operator - Shyam Telecom is planning to expand its telecom network into at least three southern states. The company, which operates both cellular and basic services in Rajasthan, is currently evaluating all the southern states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Karnataka.
