Mumbai : The textiles commissioner has announced quantitative ceiling for exporters desirous of getting the handloom export quotas during the calender 2001. Accordingly, exporters of handloom products under category 369 (D)HL (handloom dish towels) to USA under the first come first served (FCFS) ready goods system, will have a quantative ceiling of 60,000 sq mtrs per applicant per day. The distribution of quotas under the ready goods entitlement system will begin from January 10.``This quantative restriction will prevent larger exporters cornering the quotas, and thereby help more number of exporters to participate in the exports of the handloom products,'' said an Texprocil executive.``In turn, this will help generate more employment in the handloom sector as also effect more shipment of the product''.
The order has been passed in terms of para 8(vi) of the quota policy notification no 1/129/99 exports-1 dated November 12, 1999 issued by the textiles ministry, New Delhi.
