PSU insurance firms get part-time directors

New Delhi, Jan 4: The government has notified the appointment of 12 part-time directors on the boards of three public sector insurance companies. In line with its decision to have more experts on the boards of public sector companies, the government has selected a mix of retired judges, economists and chartered accountants, along with local politicians, for the posts.The names of non-official directors for the National Insurance Company (NIC) and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) have not been put out yet. Those appointed on the board of Oriental Insurance Company are: retired judge of the Delhi high court Justice Jaspal Singh, Prof S Thorat of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Dr Pritam Singh of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, RS Lodha, and Subhash B Dange.
