Ashu Kumar New Delhi : In a major restructuring exercise designed to bring focus to its software operations, Aptech Ltd has divided its software business into six divisions. The mission: to touch Rs 500 crore in revenues from the software business by fiscal 2002, up from the Rs 150 crore estimated for this fiscal. In percentage terms the software business which currently accounts for 25 per cent of Aptech Ltd's turnover, is expected to jump to 45-50 per cent by 2002.The company has also decided to enter Japan and Korea by setting up business development operations in the countries. Besides, Aptech will also focus on health care and finance as verticel business segments to develop domain expertise.
In an exclusive interview with The Financial Express, the managing director of Aptech, Mr Ganesh Natarajan said that Aptech's entire software operation is being divided into six entities. The new divisions are: global software services, e-business solutions, technology development, knowledge management, BconnectB solutions and IT-enabled services.
Each division will be headed by a vice-president. However, there will be separate heads for health-care and finance verticals who will work in co-ordination with all divisions to develop domain expertise across all operations, said Mr Natarajan.
Aptech, which is expected to earn more than Rs 150 crore from the software business this fiscal, hopes to achieve the Rs 500 crore target through organic and inorganic growth in the next two years, claims Mr Natarajan.
"Aptech will have around 100,000 sq ft software delivery facilities by December 2001 as the company is setting up two new development centres: one in Mumbai and one in Bangalore," said Mr Natarajan. Aptech, currently, has four centres: three in Mumbai and one in Bangalore.
Moreover, the company is planning two more acquisitions in the future. "One in the US market and one in the UK. We are already evaluating many companies in the US for the purpose," he said.
