Calcutta, Dec 24: The joint bipartite committee for coal industry, represented by Coal India Ltd, Singareni Collieries Co Ltd and five central trade unions operating in the coal sector on Saturday signed the National Coal Wage Agreement-VI. The agreement will be effective from July 1, 1996 to June 30, 2001. The five unions represented in the committee are affiliated to Indian National Trade Union Congress (Intuc), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Centre for Indian Trade Unions (Citu), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS).
According to a press statement issued by CIL here on Sunday, under the new agreement, total minimum emoluments of the lowest category of employees has been revised from Rs 3274.70 to Rs 3689.23. In addition, employees will be given one general increment and service linked increments subject to a maximum of two increments.
Under the new agreement, various allowances applicable to the employees have also been enhanced.
A new A1 scale has been introduced to take care of stagnation at the top existing scale.Leave encashment facility, scooter allowances and others have been introduced for the first time under this new agreement.
