VSNL may cut international call charges: CMD
Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) is planning to reduce the international call charges. Chairman and managing director of VSNL, Mr Shailendra Kumar Gupta in a television interview on private channel conceded that VSNL had one of the highest call charges in the world. He added that it was up to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to fix the new call charges.

CII urges government to allow firms to subscribe to BSNL, MTNL networksThe Confederation of Indian Industrty (CII) has urged the government to allow companies to subscribe to bulk payphone lines across India on BSNL and MTNL networks, so as to increase the access of the general public to telephones. CII is of the view that bulk subscription of payphone lines will result in "an increase in the distribution of payphones across the country and will be beneficial for the consumer as well."

HP's Verifone gets new regional sales director
HP's VeriFone Division names Mr Stanley Lee as regional sales director for Hong Kong and Taiwan. Mr Lee will have overall responsibility for VeroFone's sales and partner functions in Hong Kong and Taiwan. A key goal for him will be to maintain strong sales performance for VeriFone's re-inventing e-payment initiative across Asia.

Jet Airways, Tata Cellular launch i-flight
Jet Airwyas and Tata Cellular Ltd have launched i-Flight, the online flight information service for cellular phones. This partnerships now brings Tata Cellular subscribers, the benefit of accessing Jet Airways' online flight schedules on their cellular phones.

Chappar Phadke Ke gets nine lakh entries in nine days
Jeeto Chappar Phad Ke, the game show from Sony Entertainment Television, has received nine lakh entries for participation in the last nine days. The show which will be hosted by Hindi film star Govinda is scheduled to go on air in January next year. According to the channel, these entries are only through post cards.
