`ITDC to be disinvested through international bidding'

Our Political Bureau
New Delhi, Dec 18: Disinvestment minister Arun Shourie told the Parliament on Monday that ITDC properties would be disinvested through international competitive bidding route, subject to the sectoral cap decided by the government.

Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha, Mr Shourie said the sectoral cap of foreign investment on hotels and tourism industry was 51 per cent. The same could, however, go up to 100 per cent subject to FIPB clearance, he added.

Defending the government decision to go ahead with ITDC disinvestment, Mr Shourie said his ministry would pursue it with utmost transparency. All documents pertaining to disinvestment, he said, would be sent to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for scrutiny. Even parliament would be informed of it, he added.
