N-E telecom circle to be bifurcated
The Minister of Communications, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, announced in New Delhi, the bifurcation of the existing North Eastern telecom circle. Stating that this will be a New Year Gift to the people of North-East he said that the new administrative arrangement will help improve operations, maintenance and development of telecom infrastructure in the North-Eastern states. He added that the new telecom circle with its headquarter in Dimapur, will have jurisdiction over Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh while the existing telecom circle will cover the states of Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram only.Milestone brings `Chicken Run: The Game' to PCs

Cisco System CEO visiting on January 15
John T Chambers, President and CEO of Cisco Systems, Inc, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, will visit India for the first time from January 15 to 17, 2001. India will be the first stop in his Asia tour in the New Year.
Hallmark Entertainment inks deals in Taiwan, Korea
Hallmark Entertainment Network continues to build on its affiliate network in the Asia Pacific by signing with two new partners, Videoland in Taiwan and Korea's World Event Network Co Ltd (WENTV). The agreements with Videoland and WENTV come just weeks after Hallmark Entertainment Network unveiled its extensive channel rebranding under the `Celebrate Life' tagline. The addition of these partners adds to the four other affiliates that have joined Hallmark Entertainment Network over the last three months.
ESPN, Star Sports hike rates for subscribers
Sports channels-ESPN and Star Sports-will now be available to cable operators in a package deal at Rs 16 per subscriber home per month. The revised rate, which is an increase of Rs 1.25 for the two channels, will be effective from January 1, 2001. At present, ESPN is available for Rs 8.25 per subscriber home per month, and Star Sports for Rs 6.50 per subscriber home per month. Mr Manu Sawhney, Managing Director, ESPN Software India Ltd, said: ``ESPN and Star Sports together bring the world's premier sporting events to millions of television homes across India offering the best value for money proposition to our affiliates.''
