Lucent to supply mobile network to Telefonica
Telefonica Moviles, the mobile services subsidiary of Spain's Telefonica SA, has selected Lucent Technologies as one of the suppliers of its Universal Mobile Telecommunications Services (UMTS) network to its third generation (3G) consortium in Germany with the Finnish operator, Sonera. The supply agreement for products and services is valued up to Euro 900 million (nearly $800 million). This pact may form the basis for a collaboration between companies in Austria, Italy and Spain.
