Chennai : The Chennai-based banking software products company, Laser Soft Infosystems Ltd plans to aggressively target the overseas market for furthering its business. The company proposes to set up its wholly owned subsidiary in the Washington, DC, USA and is looking at presence in Europe. Its target markets include the US, Europe and Middle East."We expect 30 per cent of revenues to come in from overseas markets in the near future. Currently, about 90 per cent of the income is from India," said Mr BS Kamath, chairman and managing director of the company while addressing press persons in Chennai on Monday. Laser Soft is targeting a turnover of Rs 20 crore in the current year and it had posted a turnover of Rs 5.5 crore last year.
It plans to ramp up its staff strength from the current 350 to 500 employees by March 2001. Laser Soft has a total dedicated in-house full time training institute.
The company's LASERtouch - a lobby banking solution, helps banks put in place Kiosks at their branches and other locations. Numerous kiosks can be connected to a branch server. The cost of a basic Kiosk is Rs 1.25 lakh and can provide services such as information about deposit and loan schemes of the banks,balance and statement enquiry printing, statement enquires etc.Value-added services such as cash vending, deposit acceptance etc can be provided out of the Kiosk if a cash vending machine is attached. Also, multi-lingual facilities would be made available at the Kiosks. The LASERtouch kiosks are operational in Andra Bank in about 25 locations. "A couple of hundred more installations are expected in Andra Bank", say officials.
The company plans to increase its share capital to Rs 10 crore, from the current Rs 5 crore by capitalising its reserves and a fresh issue of equity.
