No impact onIT industry of slowdown -- IDC

New Delhi : The economic slowdown has had no impact on the performance of IT industry's exhilarating growth in the first half of the current fiscal. IDC's Industry Performance Index (IPI) shows that almost all IT product categories witnessed vertiginous growth in the first six months of year 2000-2001 (April to September). According to an IDC release, the performance index has grown to 159.5 during the period representing a jump of 35 points over the index of first half of previous fiscal year (1999-2000). IDC figures show that PC has registered a market growth (in terms of value) of 63 per cent, servers 45 per cent, workstations 23 per cent and LAN hardware by 65 per cent in first half of this year as compared to the first half of previous year.
