Mumbai, Dec 13: A study by the Western Regional Electricity Board (WREB) has revealed that Dabhol Power Company (DPC - 740 mw), Essar (515 mw), Gujarat Industrial Power Company Ltd (GIPCL - 305 mw) and Gujarat Torrent Electricity Company (GTEC - 655 mw) have been generating power below capacity and at low plant load factor (PLF) during November this year and during the entire fiscal 1999-00.The DPC has generated a paltry 39.69 million units at a PLF of 7.45 per cent in June this year while its generation had reached at 447.49 MUs at a PLF of 83.99 per cent in April. However, the DPC's output for the current fiscal up to November has declined to 1,722.24 MUs at a PLF of 39.74 per cent against total generation of 3,988.7 MUs at a PLF of 61.36 during 1999-00. The DPC has generated 179.48 MUs at a PLF of 32.60 per cent in July, 231.99 MUs at a PLF of 41.99 per cent in August, 257.77 MUs at a PLF of 48.38 per cent in September, 269.26 MUs at PLF of 48.91 per cent in October. The DPC's generation has dipped to 184.95 MUs at a PLF of 34.71 per cent in November.
The GIPCL's output has fallen to 782.01 MUs at a PLF of 43.78 per cent during the current fiscal against 1,934.02 MUs at a PLF of 72.19 per cent in 1999-00. During April-November 2000, GIPCL's output has dipped from 173.32 MUs at a PLF of 78.93 per cent to 61.62 MUs at a PLF of mere 28.06 per cent. In the case of Essar, its output was highest at 228.02 MUs at a PLF of 59.51 per cent in October while it generated 147.99 MUs at PLF of 39.91 per cent in September. For the GTEC, it had generated 418.79 MUs at a PLF of 88.80 per cent in April. It dipped to 157.5 MUs at a PLF of 33.4 per cent in November. Its PLF had reached the lowest level of 27.12 per cent in July, when the unit had generated 132.17 MUs.
