Centre cancels `Paras' brand licence
The agriculture ministry told Delhi high court on Wednesday that it has cancelled the licence of a company which distributes milk polypacks under the ``Paras'' brand name. Vedram and sons in Uttar Pradesh has been displaying its registration number on milk polypacks, in a manner which suggests that the product is endorsed by the agriculture ministry. ``The licence holder purposefully misled the public and therefore it has been directed to close down the business within three months,'' said Mr NK Pawadia, assistant commissioner at the department of animal husbandry and dairying.Govt okays exploration of 25 oil blocks
The Union government has decided to offer 25 new blocks for oil exploration to Indian and international companies next week and start with immediate effect, execution of three new refineries with the investment of Rs 25,000 crore. Addressing a seminar on ``Petroleum Prices and its Impact'' organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) here, Petroleum Minister Ram Naik disclosed that the government has also finalised a programme for acquisition of foreign acreage by Indian companies like the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), to ensure secured supply to the country.
Indo-French collaboration on water
India and France have signed an agreement in the field of water management in the areas of integrated river basin management, maintaining the quality of water resources and sanitation along with developing water channel networks. Water Resources Minister Arjun Charan Sethi said that the agreement would also cover the issues of public and private partnership and financing of the projects.
