Dishnet to deploy DSL in hotels to tap visitors

Our eFE Bureau
Pune : Sterling Group's DishnetDSL Ltd is planning to deploy its Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) in 4,000 hotel rooms across the country in the next four to eight weeks. This will enable the hotels to offer Internet on tap to its customers who can have unlimited Net access without dialing, delay or paying telephone bills.

In this phase, Dishnet will cover 15 hotel properties. Dishnet deployed its DSL Solution in Le Meridien, a five-Star hotel in Pune. Le Meridien will have 177 rooms and 15 other business spaces in the hotel with the high-speed Internet access. Other hotel properties to be covered under DSL are The Leela in Mumbai and Goa, Radisson in Chennai, Ashok in Bangalore and Guestline in Mumbai. This solution has already been implemented in Le Meridien in Delhi, The Regent and Sun-n-Sand in Mumbai.

Dr Erich Buerkler, CEO, Dishnet said DishnetDSL solution will offer high speed Internet access in these hotel rooms. "Currently we are achieving up to 0.5 Mpbs regularly and have had the system up to 1.5 Mbps on domestic sites". DishnetDSL has an exclusive arrangement with CAIS Software Solutions for the visitor based Internet access network, IPORT and IPORT software DR Buerkler said the company was taking the hospitality sector route to popularise the DSL solution and would soon be looking at introducing these services in three and four star hotels. Dishnet would bear the capital expenditure and look after the maintenance but this kind of tie up offered space and customers thereby reducing the sales effort for the company.
