HCL Infosystems to market Pitney Bowes electronic inserting

New Delhi : HCL Infosystems Ltd has tied up with US based office automation company, Pitney Bowes for sale of electronic inserting machines in India. The company has launched three inserting machienes incluing a Desktop Inserting System, a Tabletop Inserting System and a Inserting System. These machines are used to fold and insert papers into envelops for mailing applications with any human involvements. The machines are used by companies require regular bulk mailing such in case of monthly bill mailing of telecom operators and credit card companies. The machines called as digital inserting systems by the company, will cost from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 2 crore depending on the size and features and will be directly imported from US.

HCL Infosystems will sell them in the market and will provide value added services such as installation, support and system integration of the machiens with other automated billing systems such as printers and servers. Announcing the launch of systems In India, Mr Jeffrey M Brennan, Director of Sales, Mailing System, Pitney Bowes, claimed that the systems can execute a variety of mailing jobs such as addressing, folding, inserting, weighing, rating and metering depending upon the user requirements. The desktop inserting system fold and insert material over fifteen times faster than hand and has cycle speeds of up to 2500 pieces per hour. The Tabletop Inserting System can fold and insert material 20 times faster than hand and has cycle speeds up to 4200 pieces per hour and has a continuous forms processing capability when linked to a burster or a cutter. Mr Brennan said, "we feel that there is a huge market potential for such products in India.

We have carefully planned our entry into this market and we have chosen HCL Infosystems as our partners as they are the only company in India offering such a wide marketing and support network." Mr JV Ramamurthy, CEO, Office Automation Division, HCL Infosystems Limited, said, "we are very excited about the products as we feel that they will find a ready market in India. Launching these products in India is also the extension of our strategy to build the most comprehensive portfolio of products and services and bring the latest to the customers."

HCL mulls over ADR

According to Mr Nayyar, HCL Technologies is planning to go in for an ADR. ``We will take all appropriate measures to float an ADR as we already have approvals from the NYSE and Nasdaq for the issue,'' he said. The company would take a decision on this ``depending on the market conditions and the company's fund requirements,'' he added. He, however, declined to provide any further details.
