Deltagram to hit global market in two months

Dilip Bisoi
Bhubaneswar : The Chennai-based satellite messaging company Deltagram is preparing to hit the global market in two months.

"We have developed a software for launching our services all over the world," Deltagram managing director R Kothandaraman told The Financial Express. "The software is now under testing," he said, adding "our services would be available across the world by the end of March 2001".

Deltagram is now spreading its wings to other parts of the country. "We have gathered enough confidence to work in other regions of the country," said Mr Kothandaraman. Deltagram proposes to lay the feeder information roads by setting up terminal infrastructure in all the 27,000 postal pin code areas of the country by June 2003, he said. The terminals would be connected to nodal servers located in about 250 towns and cities which would be linked to the mother server at Chennai.

"We have already established 56 nodal servers and 1000 terminal infrastructures to cater to the need of about 10,000 kiosks which serve as our outlets to the public," said the managing director.

Deltagram is expecting a Rs 15 crore turnover in 2000-01 against Rs 5 crore in 1999-2000. Total turnover in 1998-99 was about Rs 2 crore. The company is expecting a profit of Rs 50 lakh this year against Rs 5 lakh last year.Deltagram on Monday announced launch of its hub in the State wherein users can avail Deltagram services. At the launch, Mr Kothandaraman said users can now avail of e-call (phone to phone), Deltafac (fax to fax), pagenet (multi-city paging) and Net shoppe (e-commerce) services. The hub would now act as a nodal gateway and vital communication link which can be accessed between Orissa and the rest of the country.
