FedEx to develop products for Indian exporters

Our Corporate Bureau
Chennai, Nov 26 : Federal Express (FedEx), leading international express transportation company, is developing specialised products to meet the specific needs of exporters from various industries in India, at its packaging design and development lab at Memphis, USA. It had recently announced a service exclusively tailored for the Indian garment exporters.

According to FedEx managing director (Indian Subcontinent), Jacques Creeten, the company is currently reviewing its products developed for fast growing and export-oriented industries in India including automobile, pharmaceutical, leather, heavy engineering and gems and jewellry. The company plans to offer a range of customised packaging options as well as documentation support at no additional cost, he said. These clients will also be provided enhanced connections to the FedEx international network plus international forecasts of the industries.

To speed up the delivery time, the company has recently doubled its freighters from India to 10 Airbus 310-100 series aircraft, with a daily connections from Mumbai to various international hubs in Europe, America and West Asia. And for transporting smaller packets from various Indian cities, it has a tie-up with Blue Dart. The company is also heavily focussing on the outbound cargo, as exports from India are growing at the rate of 22 per cent, said Mr Creeten.
