German wine arrives in India

Sulekha Nair
Chateau Indage is launching Rhine Pride, the best known of Germany's white wine in India. This wine is being launched under Chateau Indage's joint venture with its German partners, Peter Mertes, Bernkastel, from Mosel Valley, Germany. Rhine Pride is the first offering from the joint venture.

Rhine Pride is made from Riesling, the finest and the best known of Germany's white wine variety. Its small grapes ripen late in October or November. This long slow ripening period allows it to develop more aroma and a harmonious balance. This racy hue coloured wine is fragrant with a fine fruit bouquet and spells a subtle pronounced acidity balanced with a piquant taste. The whole wine summarises into a fruity, tingling, medium dry crisp sensation, leaving hints of sweet reminisces.

Rhine Pride is available in a 750 ml variant, in a sleek slender bottle adorning a specially designed, distinguishable German label. It is priced at Rs 465 and is touted as an ideal companion for white meats, fish, poultry, cheese and most of the Indian curries.
