Spreading Linux -- Red Hat in JV with Clover Tech

Pune : Red Hat, Inc, a leader in developing, deploying and management of Linux and open source Internet infrastructure, is expanding operations in the Indian market by setting up Red Hat India Pvt Ltd, a 60:40 joint venture with Pune-based Clover Technologies Pvt. Limited. This joint venture will deliver Red Hat software, support and services to customers in India. Red Hat already has a tie-up in India with NIIT for training. Red Hat has many OEM relationships which will now come under the joint venture. Javed Tapia, managing director of Clover said, ``The opening of this office is in response to the rapid adoption of Red Hat Linux in the subcontinent". India is one of the leading software development countries in the world and the demand for open source solutions from the Indian markets is rising. "Linux is no longer just for geeks. The demand for Linux in the marketplace is increasing.However, lack of support and servicing has been a deterrent and we will be filling this gap through Red Hat India and provide customers with the entire range of Red Hat solutions." Mr Tapia says. "We are talking to a national ISP service company for putting all their servers on Red Hat Linux," Mr Tapia adds. Clover Technologies has been focused on providing support for Oracle databases.
