India, Madagascar to start air services
AN agreement has been signed between Madagascar and India on a legal framework for the establishment or air services between and beyond their respective territories. Says counsel general of Madagascar HE CH Kapadia: "The agreement will pave the way to commence direct flights to and fro Mumbai/Antananarivo which consequently will give fillip to commerce, industry and tourism. In fact, at present there is no direct flight to go to Madagascar. One has to go via Mauritius or Nairobi."Leela chief is HRA president
The Leela group of Hotels vice-chairman and managing director, Vivek Nair has been elected as the president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) for the ensuing year. A new team of office-bearers were also elected with Mr Ajit Kerkar to continue as president of honour.
Trials on breast cancer
Novartis had conducted two clinical trials on breast cancer therapy across 29 countries. The finding of the trials show that Novartis' breast cancer drug Femara is more effective than the widely used, 25-year old drug tamoxifen as a first-line treatment and pre-operative therapy in post-menopausal women.
HCL Infinet to launch Net services
HCL InfiNet has announced the launch of its value added Internet services in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Noida, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram. The service now available in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai will soon be made available across India in 42 cities making HCL InfiNet one of the largest ISP in India.
Noida toy city to house institute
The toy city at Noida will house Asia's first international toy designing development institute with technical training institute, a research centre, a library and a toy museum. The institute will basically be involved in designing and creating toys as per market trends. These designs will be passed on to manufacturers, who have their units in the same vicinity.
Saraswati Dynamics gets award
Saraswati Dynamics Pvt Ltd - a Roorkee based engineering company manufacturing Electrodynamic Vibration Shaker System - was awarded the "DSIR National Award 2000" for R&D efforts in electronic industries for the year 1999-2000. The company has been selected for its efforts in real time digital signal processing technology, combined vibration and climatic test system.
