Switches for light, and style

SULEKHA NAIR
A switch looking like a switch would just not do. In these state-of-the-art times, a switch should also lend a touch of prestige and luxury to a home.

To cater to a select clientele and also commercial buildings, LK India Private Limited has launched a totally new range of switches and sockets.

The LK 2000 is a new series of high quality switches and socket outlets in the Indian market. In addition to the standard power switches and socket outlets, the LK 2000 series includes 15 sockets and data outlets and also a wide range of electronic accessories such as dimmers and fan regulators. The present product range consists of the LK Fuga. The company claims it is the only one of its kind in India manufacturing and marketing plastic insta- llation boxes. Available in five shades (ultra white, white, grey, brown, black), these are modular sized screwless terminals that are made of fire retardant material and are available in both horizontal and vertical formulations. Mr Bjarne Bejder, managing director, LK India, said that the LK-SKOT-lamp is the country's first IP 66 approved lighting fixture. "It is developed to sustain harsh weather conditions at sea but can be equally effective on land. Made from aluminium alloy, the SKOT-lamp is extensively used for ships, harbours (since it is suited to salineconditions) and even at high temperature and corrosive premises like chemicals and petro-chemicals industry. It can be mounted on walls, ceilings and also on grounds using U-posts."

Regarding the market for the products, Mr Pauli Joensen, executive vice president and chairman, said that they would be able to garner 15 per cent of the market share with their products. "India's economy has a niche for quality products. We are here at the right time."

LK, which takes its name from Lauritz Knudsen, the watch and chronometer maker who founded the company in 1893 in Denmark, has been in India since 1991 as a joint venture between LK, A/S, Denmark, and the Pace group of Vadodara with a view to bring futuristic products to India. In 1997, LK acquired absolute control of the company. "We specialise in systems that are best suited to both work and leisure places to the convenience of the Indian customers," added Mr Joensen.
