Paradigm Info plans Rs 50 crore expansion over two years

New Delhi : Delhi-based Paradigm Infoways has charted out expansion plans which entail an investment of Rs 50 crore over a period of two years. In addition to a launching an education portal early next year, it will be investing offline on setting up 300 training centres across all the major cities of India for providing education programmes, according to company director Sanjeev Nayyar. Elaborating, company director Prashant Mudaliar said that about 70 per cent of the amount would come from a venture capitalist though he did not divulge the name of the VC. The rest would come from within the group, he added.

Mr Nayyar told The Financial Express that the company is also opening two software parks in Delhi and Bangalore in January. A computer dome has also been planned for Delhi. "Our aim is to have 500 centres spread across the Asian continent in the year 2001, before branching out globally,'' Mr Nayyar explains. The company plans to tap the Far East and the Middle East markets, he adds. Elaborating on the education portal, Mr Mudaliar said that the portal would be up and running on January 15, 2001. Germany-based company CVC is converting the portal into a multi-lingual one to cater to the global market as well. Mr Nayyar points out that all the training centres, which aim to provide skill enhancement programmes, would also act as the placement centres.

The centres would offer programmes in e-commerce, Web designing, Web marketing, multimedia and application development. Paradigm Infoways has been promoted by New Jersey-based Paradigm Inc which has a development centre in Santa Clara. The Indian unit will also receive expertise from the centre. It is also in the process of setting up a software development centre at Lapzip in Germany. The company has tied up with the German government for opening 17 computer centres in the country.

Mr Nayyar says that the company has charted out an advertisement blitz - both print and electronic - and has set aside an amount of Rs 10 crore for the same. The company is doing development work in the field of WAP, Advance Protocols, Blue tooth, Blue Max as also in the field of convergence, Mr Nayyar adds. This company has two divisions-one solely dedicated to IT education while the other is into offering Web-based solutions to client and software development.

Paradigm software division is a total electronic management (TEM) provider. The company has a two-winged approach while offering services-creation, design and development of the Website and traffic generation and online marketing of the site.
