Software industry grew 58 pc in H1: Nasscom survey
The software industry in the country generated a revenue of Rs 17,150 crore during the first half of the current financial year, registering a growth rate of 58 per cent over the corresponding period last year, according to a Nasscom survey. The survey conducted by Nasscom has also projected the software industry to gross Rs 39,500 crore during the financial year. This included an export target of Rs 28,500 crore. The software export industry grew at a record level of 63 per cent during this period as compared to 58.3 per cent in the corresponding period in the previous year,the survey revealed. Software export revenue during the first half of the current fiscal was Rs 13,100 crore, against Rs 8,060 crore during the corresponding period last year.BBC's Teletubbies - India's top rated children's program
BBC Worldwide has announced that the internationally acclaimed pre-school children's program `Teletubbies' is the highest rated children's program in India within a month of its launch on September 18, 2000 on DD Metro.
`Teletubbies' is not only the highest rated children's programme on DD Metro, but also the most watched program across all Satellite Cable and Terrestrial channels in India for the 4-9 year age group through out the week.
Amitabh Bachchan, Khushwant Singh appointed to tehlka.com board
Cine star Amitabh Bachchan and noted writer Khushwant Singh have been included in the board of tehlka.com, which was in news recently over match-fixing scandal. "The two celebrities attended the board meeting for the first time on Wednesday after their inclusion recently," according to Tarun Tejpal of the company.
Adeptia secures $1 million seed funding
Adeptia, a Chicago-based company offering application integration and custom engineering services, has secured $1 million as seed funds from NetFuel Ventures. The company has been floated by a team of former employees of 3Com and GE Capital. The company plans to focus on Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM).
RR Shah elected VP of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union
Mr R R Shah, CEO, Prasar Bharati, has been elected as the vice-president, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), at the 37th General Assembly held at Manila, Philippines. It's for the first time that that an Indian has been elected for this post.
