Intel completes 0.13 Micron process tech development
Intel Corporation has announced that it had completed the development of its 0.13 micron (130 nanometer) generation logic technology, allowing it to manufacture chipswith transistors that are approximately 1/1000th the width of a human hair. An important milestone in Intel's continuing quest to make computer chips smaller and more powerful, this advanced process technology will begin volume manufacturing next year and deliver a new generation of high performance microprocessors, which may contain more than 1000 million transistors and run at multi-GHz clock speeds.

Official Beatles site set for launch
The Beatles will launch its official website - www.the beatles.com - on November 13. This will coincide with the release of its latest collection-1. For years, there have been a lot of unofficial Websites of the Beatles. Now, finally the official website of Beatles is ready to roll on. On the same day, all 27 Beatles number one singles will appear together on the album 1. This 79-minute one CD compilation will sell for the usual album price.

IBM launches `SurePOS 500' for food, hotel industry
IBM India on Wednesday announced the launch of a new point-of-sale (POS) software system targeting the fast-growing food service and hospitality industries. "Food and hospitality industries are the two fastest growing segments due to a fundamental change in consumers' lifestyles," IBM India country manager (personal systems) Shashi M Mal said.

Digital India, Avaya in pact
Digital India has signed a business alliance agreement with Avaya of Singapore, a communications systems and software provider. Under the agreement, Digital India would work as a systems integrator and development associate for Avaya's customer relationship management (CRM) solutions in the Asia Pacific region. This would also enable the company to develop competencies in new technologies within the CRM sector.

S Mohan appointed CFO of Encore Software
Bangalore-based Encore Software Ltd has appointed S Mohan as chief financial officer to head the accounts and finance department. He will be responsible for fund-raising and commercial activities of overseas contracts. Encore has expertise in DSP-based algorithms for telecommunications, embedded systems software and hardware, Java, communications protocols and embedded applications.

XML standard for Tally eis 5.4 software
Bangalore-based Tally Solutions Pvt Ltd has adopted the XML standard for Tally eis 5.4, financial accounting software. Data in XML can be exported and imported seamlessly across heterogenous systems. The XML standard will permit the publication and use of data in hybrid form by heterogenous applications.
