BPL Cell unveils integrated mobile Internet portal

Pune : BPL Cellular Limited has launched miZone, the country's first integrated mobile Internet portal, a special portal to suit mobile subscribers needs. miZone makes content available both on WAP and the existing GSM platform.

With this portal subscribers have the freedom to choose the mode of accessing the Net. They also need not upgrade their phones to access content on the net. Apart from WAP content, BPL Mobile will be delivering the same content to the existing base of subscribers using the Short Messaging Service technology which subscriber can access using their normal GSM phone.Mr Vinay Agarwal, chief operating officer, BPL Mobile, said that the SMS based e-mail access is the first in the world and the company is planning to market this feature to other operators across the world. The entire portal has been developed by Oyeindia Internetworks Pvt Ltd, the technology Web development division of BPL Innovision Group.

Mr Agarwal said that BPL has announced its intention to go in for GPRS technology in the Mumbai circle but it is still undecided about bringing in the GPRS technology in the Maharashtra circle as it is spread across a large area and investment requirement have to be worked out. miZone will be available for BPL Mobile subscribers in the Maharashtra and Goa circles.
