Wipro underwriters buy extra ADS
It major Wipro Ltd on Monday announced that the underwriters of its recent $135-million American Depository issue have exercised their over-allotment option to purchase an additional 412,500 of its American Depository Shares, which represent 412,500 equity shares, and are represented by American Depository Receipts (ADRs). The public offering of Wipro is being managed by an underwriting group led by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Credit Suisse First Boston and Banc of America Securities are the co-managers in the offering.NBA plea to SC on Narmada

`Scrap tax on Indian software'
Japanese industry has sought removal of the 20 per cent withholding tax on imports of Indian software to facilitate Indian IT penetration in a major way. India's software exports to Japan account for only four per cent of the total software import by Japan, which could go up to 15-20 per cent once the tax is removed.
Petronet plea on MRPL's status
Petronet India, the joint venture pipelines company, has conveyed to the petroleum ministry that the MRPL should not get co-promoter status in the pipeline from Mangalore to Bangalore. This follows a request from the MRPL to the ministry.
37 FM licence agreements finalised
The I&B ministry has announced that agreements for 37 FM Radio licences in four metros and 15 other cities have been executed while it has forfeited a total of Rs 18.85 crore of advance licence fee of 12 firms which failed to submit bank guarantees.

IT searches on leading broker
I-T authorities on Monday carried out searches on a leading city broker and two distilleries in a crackdown on black money transactions. The director general of investigation is carrying out searches on 15 premises of the broker, who is a well known player in the badla trade, and had so far sealed at least eight lockers.
