P&G net rises 24% to Rs 18.5cr in Q1 

 
Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care (P&G) announced a 24 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 18.54 crore in the first quarter ended September 2000, as compared to Rs 14.95 crore in the correpsonding period last year. Net sales, however, registered a flat growth to Rs 120.09 crore during the period compared to Rs 119.29 crore last year. The company said that the sales figures for the two years are not comparable because of the discontinuation of the shampoo manufacturing agreement with Procter & Gamble Home Products from February 2000.

Dr Reddy's Q2 net rockets 146%
Dr Reddy's Laboratories has posted net profit of Rs 29.4 crore for the second quarter of the current financial year, registering a growth of 146 per cent compared to the same period last year. The turnover has increased by 45 per cent to Rs 164.6 crore (Rs 113.5 crore). The operating profits rose by 117% from Rs 19.9 crore to Rs 43.2 crore.

Voltas net rockets 335% to Rs 4.4cr
Voltas has registered a 335 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 4.40 crore (Rs 1.01 crore) in the quarter ended September 2000. Sales rose by 6.8 per cent to Rs 201.92 crore (Rs 189.08 crore).

BPCL net shoots up 73.5% to Rs 359cr
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd has registered a 73.5 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 358.9 crore (Rs 206.8 crore) for the quarter ended September 2000. Net sales rose by 43.37 per cent to Rs 10,896.8 crore (Rs 7,600.1 crore)

EIH reports 49% rise in PAT to 10cr in Q2
EIH Ltd, the flagship of the Oberoi group, has reported a 49 per cent rise in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 9.99 crore (Rs 6.71 crore) during the second quarter ended September 2000. Total income rose 18 per cent to Rs 119.29 crore during the quarter from Rs 101 crore in July-September 1999.

Gulf Oil India net declines to Rs 2cr in H1
Gulf Oil India has recorded a decline in net profits to Rs 2.21 crore for the first half ended September 2000 (Rs 4.30 crore). Total income went down to Rs 65.32 crore from Rs 67.65 crore in the same period.

Rhone Poulenc net up 34% to Rs 9 cr
Rhone Poulenc (India) has registered a 34 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 9.03 crore in the quarter ended September 2000 (Rs 6.73 crore). Net sales grew by 14 per cent to Rs 69.67 crore from Rs 60.88 crore in the same quarter.

BASF net up 10.3% to Rs 6.7cr
BASF (India) has posted a 10.3 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 6.71 crore (Rs 6.08 crore) for the quarter ended September 2000. Net sales rose by 14.4 per cent to Rs 114.12 crore from Rs 99.77 crore in the same quarter.

Tata Chem reports net of Rs 47.3cr
Tata Chemicals has reported a net profit of Rs 47.35 crore for the second quarter ended September 30,2000 (Rs 55.82 crore).The company's sales grew from Rs 421.85 cr last year to Rs 445.67 crore.

KVB records 34% rise in H1 net
Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) has posted a 34.17 per cent growth in its net profit to Rs 34.24 crore (Rs 25.52 crore) for the six months period ended September 30, 2000. Total income of the bank during the period was Rs 243.89 crore (Rs 222.42 crore).

Sterling Resorts net income up 10.75%
Sterling Holiday Resorts (India) Ltd has recorded a 10.75 per cent increase in its net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2000 at Rs 4.43 crore (Rs 4 crore). The company's net loss has also reduced by 31.40 per cent to Rs 4.74 crore (Rs 6.91 crore).

CUMI posts net of Rs 11.87 cr in H1
Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI) has posted a net profit of Rs 11.87 crore (Rs 11.94 crore) during the half year ended September 30, 2000. Income from operations of the company during the period was at Rs 132.38 crore (Rs 118.55 crore).

TNPL net up 160% to Rs 20 cr
The Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd on Monday reported a 160 per cent jump in the net profit to Rs 20.08 crore (Rs 7.73 crore). The company has clocked a turnover of Rs 148.15 crore (Rs 126.88 crore) during the period.

Bank of Madura net at Rs 26 cr
Bank of Madura Limited has posted a net profit of Rs 26.24 crore during the six months period ended September 30, 2000 (Rs 21.01 crore). Total income of the bank was Rs 246.82 crore (Rs 217.73 crore), registering a growth of 13.36 per cent.

Chemplast net slumps to Rs 2 cr in Q2
The Chennai-based Chemplast Sanmar Ltd has reported slump in net profit to Rs 2.03 crore( Rs 11.31 crore) for the second quarter ended September 2000 . Net sales stood at Rs 88.33 crore (Rs 94.96 crore).

Sundaram-Clayton net declines 71.29%
Sundaram-Clayton posted a 71.29 per cent decline in its net profit at Rs 1.28 crore (Rs 4.46 crore ) for the quarter ended September 30, 2000. The company's income from operations also decreased by 2.5 per cent at Rs 53.57 crore, (Rs 52.23 crore).

Exide H1 net up to Rs 21cr
Exide Industries Ltd on Monday reported a Rs 21.06-crore (Rs 19.86 crore profit) net profit on gross sales of Rs 442.66 crore (Rs 435.59 crore) in the first half of the current fiscal, registering a growth of 6.04 per cent and 1.62 per cent respectively, compared to the corresponding period of fiscal 1999-2000.

Indo Rama records Rs 11cr net
Indo Rama Synthetics India Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 11.12 crore for first six months ended September, as against a net loss of Rs 15.07 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. "The company achieved a positive swing of Rs 26.19 crore, with sales for the six months at Rs 1,006 crore, up 27 per cent from the previous year," MD OP Lohia told said.

Eicher Motors net leaps 48%
Eicher Motors has reported a 48 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 6.76 crore (Rs 4.58 crore) for the six months ended September 2000. Gross sales during the period were up 30.5 per cent to Rs 191.41 crore (Rs 146.62 crore).

PNB H1 net rises to Rs 290 cr
The Punjab National Bank (PNB) has earned a net profit of Rs 290.18 crore (Rs 262.52 crore) in the first half of the current fiscal recording a growth of 10.5 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year. Gross profit during the period at Rs 600.50 crore (Rs 502.88 crore) registered a growth of 19.4 per cent.

Jindal Strips net spurts 23%
Jindal Strips reported a 23 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 20.48 crore on higher sales of Rs 353.04 crore for the second quarter ended September 2000 over the corresponding period the previous year. The export turnover shot up to Rs 51.82 crore (Rs 11.65 crore).

Shaw Wallace net up 10%
Shaw Wallace and Co Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 33 lakh (Rs 30 lakh), a 10 per cent rise for the quarter ended September 30, 2000 . The company's turnover increased by 14.6 per cent during the same period.

Blue Star Q2 net lower
Blue Star Ltd has posted a 12.1 per cent lower net profit at Rs 3.61 crore (Rs 4.11 crore) for second quarter ended September 30, 2000. The company recorded a marginal increase in net sales at Rs 118.42 crore (Rs 118.36 crore).

Bata India Q3 net dips
Bata India Ltd on Monday reported a sharp decline in net profit at Rs 0.38 crore during the third quarter of 2000 as against Rs 3.64 crore in the same quarter of 1999. Net sales during the period jumped to Rs 173.02 crore from Rs 164.07 crore last year.

Tata Fin Q2 net down 13%
Tata Finance Ltd (TFL) has posted a 12.8 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 8.52 crore (Rs 9.78 crore) for the second quarter ended September 2000. However, the company's income from operations increased by 7.9% to Rs 140.20 crore (Rs 129.90 crore), TFL said in a release.
