Oilseeds output down as the need for non-traditional sources rises
Kharif Oilseeds crop this year is feared to be lower than expected, following insufficient and late rains during the recently concluded monsoon season. Industry sources fear the fall in overall oilseeds output during the past two years is around 40%.

Farmers to revolt against unlimited imports of goods
Farmers from all over the country will converge at the Mumbai Port on Feb 19 next, and `physically obstruct import of goods and dump them into the sea' as part of a protest to oppose the opening of the food and agriculture sector to unlimited imports.

Fresh slide in sugar, palmoil prices; tin advances; bullion stable
Mixed trend prevailed on the Mumbai's bullion market, while on the oil and oilseeds market the imported RBD palmolein showed a fresh fall due to weak Malaysian advices. Groundnut oil also closed weak. Non-edible oils and oilseeds remained firm.
