Steel Policy will address private producers

New Delhi, Oct 19: Union Minister of Steel BK Tripathi has said that the new Steel Policy would address the issues and problems being faced by the private steel producers including their problem of funds. The ministry has received various proposals, with regard to their problems, from 19 private steel producers involving Rs 30,000 crore investment, Tripathi said, adding the National Steel Policy would look into these."Government is serious in making country's steel industry globally competitive where private investors would play a vital role," Tripathy told PTI on the sidelines of award ceremony of Safety, Health and Environment in steel industry. The National Steel Policy would provide a boost to the steel sector and it would be a comprehensive policy taking into account all the issues relating to growth, he said. The ministry has appointed a small expert group to prepare the draft proposal for the National Steel Policy, who would be submitting the draft within the next three months, steel secretary AK Agrawal said.
