AH Jung appointed part-time chairman of Air-India

Mumbai Oct 19: AH Jung (58), secretary, ministry of civil aviation, has been appointed as part-time chairman of Air-India with effect from October 17, 2000. He takes over from Mr Ravindra Gupta who is currently the secretary, department of defence production and supplies.

Mr Jung's appointment comes close on the heels of a few senior-level reshuffles at A-I. These include the commercial director VK Varma taking over as director of planning and international relations; and the deputy director commercial division, Vijay Casshyap, taking over as commercial director. Mrs Aruna Mascarenhas - earlier director planning and international relations - took over as the in charge of flight kitchens.

Prior to his appointment as secretary, ministry of civil aviation on June 1, 2000, Jung was special secretary in the ministry of power. Jung, an officer belonging to the Indian Audit & Accounts Service, was on the board of SAIL, Kundermukh Iron Ore, Vizag Steel Plant, Nalco, Balco, Hind Zinc Ltd and Hind Copper.
