Smithkline Beecham Consumer Healthcare (SBCH) has recorded an increase of 19 per cent in cumulative profit after tax to Rs 80.3 crore for the third quarter July 2000 to September 2000 as compared to last year's Rs 67.50 crore. The turnover went up by 21 per cent to Rs 237.60 crore from Rs 196 crore recorded last year. The sales have increased by 18.5 per cent during the first nine months of the year over the corresponding period last year. In a company statement SBCH managing director Mr Simon J Scarff said: "despite the general slowdown in the marketplace, improvement in profitability has been achieved through continued focus on enhancement of productivity and removing the ineffeciencies in the supply chain."California Software H1 net at Rs 2.34 cr
The Chennai-based California Software Company Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 2.34 crore during the half year ended September 30, 2000. This is about 75 per cent more than that achieved during the whole year of 1999-2000. Sales during the period was at Rs 15.60 crore as against the annual turnover of Rs 13.99 crore of the previous year. Earnings per share was at Rs 4.91 compared to Rs 3.61 during 1999-2000.
Roofit net soars 30% in Q1
Roofit Industries Ltd, the flagship company of the Rs 600 crore Motwani group, has reported a 30 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 9.37 crore for the first quarter ended September 30 as against Rs 7.22 crore in Q1 last year. Sales were up by 52 per cent to Rs. 90.36 crore (Rs. 59.62crore in Q1 last year), according to a release. The company has advanced production of its product `quick n easy' plaster by modifying the clinker grinding unit at its Ratnagiri plant and also setting up two more units at Pune and Chennai, the release said. The two units would have an installed capacity of 2.8 lakh t pa and expected to go on stream by January and June next year respectively.
Eicher Motors posts 25% growth in total volumes
Eicher Motors Ltd (EML) has recorded a 25 per cent growth in total volumes for the six months ended September 2000 over the corresponding period last year. The industry, in comparison has grown only by 2 per cent in the same period. In the six months, April-September 2000, EML sold 3,601 vehicles against the 2,874 vehicles sold in the corresponding period last year.
ITW Signode Q2 net jumps 22%
ITW Signode India Ltd registered a net profit of Rs 4.01 crore in the quarter ended September 30 this year, 22 per cent more than the profit for the corresponding period last year. At the board of directors meeting, the company's Q2 results showed sales at Rs 49.29 crore for the second quarter (Rs 43.27 crore).
Tata Infomedia net climbs 49%
Tata Infomedia Ltd (formerly Tata Donnelley Limited) on Thursday reported net profit of Rs 8.01 crore for the first half of 2000-2001 as against Rs 5.4 crore in the previous year, a rise of 49 per cent. Sales were 19 per cent higher at Rs 60.99 crore as against Rs 51.20 crore in the previous year. Total income increased by 24 per cent from Rs 52.94 crore to Rs 65.73 crore. Gross profit increased by 33 per cent from Rs 11.69 crore to Rs 15.58 crore.
A correction
In the headline for the report on Polaris Software (Oct 19, 2000), the sales figure was inadvertantly mentioned as Rs 14 crore, whereas the actual figure is Rs 64.43 crore. The error is regretted.
