Chennai: Confederation of India Industry (CII) is organising the first ever media seminar in the country. Titled `Media UnConvention: The Indian Media & Marketing Communications Summit', it will held in Chennai from November 3rd to 4th .The objective of the convention is to highlight the impact of convergence on the media and its impact on consumers, industry, advertisers and to provide a comprehensive perspective on the effective usage of media to gain competitive edge and to offer a look into the marketing realities, growth opportunities, technologies and success stories that fire media & media convergence.
Speaking at a press conference Mr N Murali, chairman Media UnConvention and joint-managing director of The Hindu said that CII has roped in leading players in the media industry to speak at the convention and share with the delegates their views and experience.
The seminar will be inaugurated by Mr Arun Jaitley, Union Law minister who is now piloting the convergence bill. Mr Subhash Chandra will give the special address. Other important speakers include Dr John V Pavlik, executive director, Centre for New Media at Columbia University, Mr Walter Bender, executive director, MIT Media Lab apart from Mr Jan Campbell, MD of Ericsson Communications, Mr Mark Young, MD - EMEA, BBC Worldwide, Mr M S Banga, chairman, Hindustan Lever Ltd and representatives from media organisation such as The Wall Street Journal, Star TV etc.
The subjects to be covered are evolution of convergence, role of media in the era of convergence, new media technologies, impact of convergence on media, repositioning & reinventing print media, e-transformation of brick and mortar companies, impact of convergence on consumers etc. The convention ends with a panel discussion on socio-cultural impact of convergence, regulatory and policy issues.
