Mumbai: Paramount Films will bring to the Indian audiences "The Road to El Dorado", an animation movie, on October 20. This follows Paramount's release of "Mission Impossible-2" late last month.Revolving around two men who are looking to make their fortune in the land that they believe exists, "The Road to El Dorado" has earned worldwide revenues in excess of $120 million.
Paramount is quite optimistic about the movie's success in India as well because of the timing of the release. "It is being released during the festive holidays," said Mr Jacinto Fernandes, Marketing Manager, Paramount Films of India. Paramount Films has tied up with hungama.com to promote the movie. The deal involves setting up an interactive online contest on the site where one has to look for the route to El Dorado. The winners will get tickets to a special screening of the movie. This is the first time that Paramount and hungama.com have joined hands for a contest of this nature.
"The tie up with hungama.com seemed quite logical since it represents the right target audience for the movie which is the family", said Mr Fernandes. The movie will be followed by Paramount's next project "Flintstones" which is scheduled for release later this year. Hungama.com has already worked on projects for the entertainment industry industry in India. Hungama.com chief executive officer Mr Neeraj Roy said, "Beyond e-mail and chat, the next biggest transition in India will be entertainment and our focus will be on this industry."
Mr Roy also confirmed that hungama.com will be involved in promoting "Flintsones" with Paramount. "The Road to El Dorado" is a straightforward promotion and the objective is to drive traffic to the cinema halls," he said.
Paramount Films has already released "Gladiator", "The World Is Not Enough" and "American Beauty" in India.
In the animation movie category, some of the bigger releases have been "Antz" and "Prince of Egypt."
