Govt may opt for open bids for PSU stock sale

Our Economic Bureau
New Delhi, Oct 18: The Union Minister for Disinvestment Arun Shourie has said that with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) giving the green signal, the government could go ahead with the open bidding process to sell its equity in public sector units.

Addressing the economic editor's conference on Wednesday, Mr Shourie said that he had met the chief vigilance commissioner and convinced him of the merits of the open-bidding process. "The CVC accepted that there was a possibility of getting better value through the open bidding process and therefore agreed to allow it," the minister said.
