BIFR directs Bharat Zinc to close down
Ailing state-owned Bharat Zinc Ltd has been directed to wind up its operation by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) as it is not likely to become viable in future. The board confirmed its prima facie opinion that the sick industrial unit BZL was not likely to make its networth exceed its accumulated losses within a reasonbale time while meeting all its financial obligations.Spentex board meet on Oct 24

FLL aims at Rs 100cr sales
Fuchs Lubricants (India) Ltd (FLL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Germany-based Fuchs Petrolab, has set a target of achieving a turnover of Rs 100 crore by 2004. The company also plans to increase its retail segment to 17 centres as part of its orientation network in the country, managing director K Hilloo told reporters in Mumbai on Wednesday. FLL, achieved a turnover of Rs 27 crore in the current year and has bought in additional capital to offset its previous losses during its joint venture with Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd.
DHL Worldwide service
DHL Worldwide Express has been selected to assist US citizens to cast their votes for the upcoming presidential and Congressisonal elections in that country in November 2000. This will comes to no cost to the voters, said a release issued by DHL in Mumbai. US citizens overseas can either mail or drop off their absentee ballots to designated DHL offices. DHL will deliver them to its office in New York, from where the ballots will enter the US postal system. No airway bills, recepits or other doucments are required for this service.
