Chennai, Oct 18: The Chennai-based Polaris Software Lab Ltd has reported an increase in net profit to Rs 14.03 crore (Rs 12.14 crore). The company has recorded a turnover of Rs 64.43 crore (Rs 34.19 crore) for the second quarter ended September 2000, an increase of 88 per cent over the corresponding period last year.The corresponding quarter last year saw a one-time extraordinary income of Rs 9.57 crore which is interest income from the over subscription of the company's IPO and this increased the net profit of July-Sept '99 quarter by Rs 5.88 crore. The operating profit increased to Rs 16.65 crore (Rs 7.72 crore), a growth of 116 per cent. Other income amounted to Rs 1.47 crore (Rs 0.02 crore). Total expenditure was at Rs 48.41 crore (Rs 26.47 crore) and depreciation amounted to Rs 1.68 crore (Rs 0.88 crore). During the quarter, the company added six new clients. The number of employees stands at 2165 as on September 30. The company has posted a turnover of Rs 117.23 crore (Rs 60.61 crore) for the half-year ended September 30, a growth of 93 per cent.
Operating profit increased to Rs 29.12 crore (Rs 13.49 crore), a growth of 116 per cent. Net profit was at Rs 25.06 crore (Rs 17.03 crore). The group revenues of Polaris (which includes the wholly owned subsidiaries) is at Rs 122.85 crore (Rs 63.49 crore) for the year while for this quarter it was at Rs 70.39 crore (Rs 36.29 crore).
