Moser Baer net rockets 300% to Rs 38.18cr in Q2
Moser Baer India Ltd, manufacturer of data storage products, on Wednesday announced a 300 per cent increase in its second quarter (ended September, 2000) net profit at Rs 32.18 crore from Rs 8 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Turnover grew to Rs 78.6 crore from Rs 30.5 crore, an increase of 157 per cent from the corresponding quarter. The company has attributed its exceptional growth to increased sales of its products particularly in the international markets where it has captured a 5 per cent market share.

TVSE reports net profit of Rs 1cr in Q3
TVS Electronics (TVSE) has reported a net profit of Rs 1 crore (Rs 0.1 crore) and an income from operations of Rs 57 crore (Rs 41.67 crore) for the third quarter ended September 2000, an increase of 36 per cent over the corresponding period last year. Paid up equity capital remained unchanged at Rs 17.03 crore. For the nine months ended September 2000, the company has posted a income from operations of Rs 161.50 crore (Rs 126.97 crore) and net profit of Rs 1.85 crore (Rs 2.04 crore).

Soffia Software net at Rs 2.93cr in Q1
Soffia Software Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 2.93 crore (Rs 0.38 crore) and a sales turnover of Rs 9.31 crore (Rs 1.44 crore) for the first quarter ended September 2000. Expenditure was at Rs 5.61 crore (Rs 0.92 crore). Paid-up capital increased to Rs 4 crore (Rs 3 crore). The company's manpower strength is currently at 336 professionals. The company has bagged a order from the Athletic Commission of California valued at $2.4 million (Rs 11 crore), according to the company's press release.

Goldstone net soars 330 per cent
Goldstone Software Exports on Wednesday reported 330 per cent jump in net profits at Rs 4.81 crore during July-September 2000 as against Rs 1.11 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Company sales rose 210 per cent to Rs 21.83 crore as compared to Rs 7.05 crore in July-September 1999, a company statement said. Software income accounted for Rs 14.97 crore, showing a 498 per cent growth over the revenues of Rs 2.5 crore of the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Goldstone Technologies Ltd (GTL), formerly Goldstone Engineering Ltd, has filed for acquisition of two US-based companies - Primesoft Services Inc and Primesoft LLC. The company has allotted 1,100,000 shares of Rs 10 face value at a premium of Rs 110 per share aggregating to Rs 13.2 crore to the promoters of these companies, the release added.

HCL Infosystems net upto Rs 21 cr in Q1
HCL Infosystems Limited (HCL Insys), India's premier IT company, on Wednesday reported a net profit before tax of Rs 21.2 crore in its unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2000 on a turnover of Rs 94.7 crore. The corresponding figures for net profit before tax and turnover for the same period in 1999-2000 were Rs 16.7 crore and Rs 228.7 crore respectively. Net profit after tax for the quarter ended September 3, 2000 is reported at Rs 19.2 crore. The highlight of this quarter was the company's consolidated services revenues as per US GAAP, which grew by 61 per cent to 69.6 crore from Rs. 03.1 crore in the corresponding quarter previous year.

BSL posts net of Rs 3cr in H1
BSL Limited, a LNJ Bhilwara group company, on Wednesday reported a profit after tax of Rs 3.05 crore for the half year ended September 30, 2000, 40 per cent higher than Rs 2.17 crore recorded in the corresponding period last year. The turnover also rose by 16 per cent to Rs 82.52 crore compared to Rs 71.51 crore during the same period last financial year, a company press release here said.

Blue Dart net records 85% growth in Q2
Blue Dart Express Limited, India's leading integrated air express carrier and premium logistics services provider has posted its sales for the second quarter ended September 30 2000, an increase by 25 per cent as compared to the second quarter of the previousyear. Blue dart has improved its earnings by recording a profit before tax of Rs 572 lakhs for the quarter as against Rs 321 lakh of the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company's net profit for the first half of the year is up by 85 per cent and operating margins have significantly improved from 12 per cent to 15 per cent, against the first half of the previous year.

Karnataka Soaps earns net of Rs 17cr
Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited, a state owned public sector unit has earned a net profit of Rs 17 crore during 1999-2000, company chairman N viswanathan said. Briefing newsmen here on the company's performance, he said the company had registered a record turnover of Rs 150 crores during the year, a noteworthy feature keeping in view the recessionary trends and strict competition in the sector. The spectacular success and growth of the company had been mainly due to its diversification effort in the launching of new products. The company had launched 15 new products including 11 new brands of agarbathis in the last two years, he added.
