ICICI Eco Net launches Billjunction.com

Our eFE Bureau
Calcutta: ICICI Eco-Net Ltd, the e-commerce arm of financial institution ICICI Ltd, on Wednesday launched its online bill payment service "Billjunction.com" in Calcutta. The new portal will enable Calcuttans to pay multiple utility bills by the click of a mouse. "We have already started similar value added services in Delhi and Mumbai and the customer base in the two cities have reached 70,000 till date. What is most encouraging is that we are adding almost 200 customers each day to this list," says Renuka Ramnath, CEO and managing director of ICICI Eco-net. The USP of the portal, the company claims, is that the customer need not open a bank account in any specific bank to avail of this online service. Billjunction uses RBI's Electronic Clearing Service (ECS) mechanism to enable bill payments.

Developed by Infosys Technologies Ltd, Billjunction has tied up with city power provider CESC, private cellular operators Spice cell and Command cell, city Internet service providers Satyam infoway, OnlySmart, Roltanet and VSNL for the service. Talks are also on with Calcutta Telephones, claims the company officials, which falls under the ambit of DoT.
