New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu N Naidu, has said that the state government would exempt IT-enabled services from the Factory Act and the Shops and Establishment Acts.He gave this assurance to a group of industry leaders who met him here on Tuesday evening to make a special presentation under the CII National Sub-Committee on IT-enabled services. He said suitable amendments will be made to the existing laws which might be stalling their growth.
Expressing his empathy with the industry, he said these issues will be taken up in the next Assembly session in December. Mr Naidu also discussed the recommendations made by them and said that if need arises their existing problems will be taken up at the central level too.
The industrialists have recommended that IT-enabled service providers be given a separate status rather than being clubbed with IT, since it is a fairly mature industry.
While the industry majors also sought better connectivity to allow India to emerge as a preferred supplier, they suggested that Ministry of Information and Technology could set up a single window to expedite clearances. The industrialists also urged the government to make the economics of international leased circuits globally competitive.
